Getting Around in Blackpool, UK
There are more than enough options, when it comes to getting around in Blackpool. You can choose to find your way around by driving, walking, riding the bus, taking the train and by riding the bike, as well.
However, walking or riding the bike are convenient choices only for short-distance trips within town. For more vast and extensive sightseeing purposes, a car is very much needed.
The local bus services are offered from Fleetwood, Preston, Lancaster and Southport, and the trains run to Blackpool North and Blackpool South stations from Preston and many other destinations, Blackpool North being the main station. For a day trip to Pleasure Beach, just change at Kirkham and take the Blackpool South line. The amusement park is the last station before Blackpool South.
During summer times, you can also enjoy a ferry ride. The closest ferries to Blackpool are Fleetwood to Larne and Heysham (near Morecambe) to Douglas (Isle of Man) and Belfast.
Perhaps, the most pleasant way to see Blackpool would be by riding the famous Blackpool trams, which run on their original 1885 tram system, traveling along the complete length of the sea front from Starr Gate, near Blackpool Airport, to Fleetwood at the northern end of the Fylde coast.
