Orissa has long coastline and some of the best beaches in India. Many of them are away from the crowds, unspoilt and pristine. Even in winter, the sun warms up the waters to let one have good sea-bathing. However, it is essential to ascertain that the spot selected offers safe bathing as there is a strong under-tow at some places. An unforgettable experience can be the changing skyscapes and glorious sunrises and sunsets. Among the good beaches are:

Puri Beach – A favorite of Pilgrims for many years, a dip in the sea here is considered holy. Though generally crowded in the vicinity of Swarg Dwar, it is possible to move away and fine privacy. It is not far from the famous temple of Lord Jagannath.

Balighai Beach – About 8 km from Puri, the Balighai is bordered by casuarina plantations. Balighai is One of the most notable beaches in Orissa, it’s a very calm and quite. The Balighai offer the tourists with a wonderful opportunity to see enchanting weather, exotic sand sea beach and full moon nights giving it a magical feel, migratory birds and Olive Ridley Turtles. Konark Beach – 32 km from Puri on Marine Drive, it is an excellent, generally un-crowded, long stretch of clean sands. It is just 3 km from the sun temple of Konark. Konark beach is as one of the best in the eastern coast, panoramic scenery of sunrise is a feast for the eyes and perfect spot for sun bathing. Every year dance festival known as “Konark Dance Festival” hosted at this beach in the month of December. The most popular activities in Konark beach such as Gotipua Dance, Magic Show; Audio Visual Karaoke, Musical Chair, water sports activities, Scooby Driving, fishing swimming restrict, volley ball, cricket and many more activities you can do here. Gopalpur-on-Sea – A small beach located at 16 kms distance from Berhampur, offers good bathing, surfing and sailing. It is dominated by the Oberio Palm Beach hotel. Clusters of coconut and palm trees, white sand dunes, casuarinas plantation and lighthouse offers good views

Chandipur Beach – Chandipur located by the Bay of Bengal in the north-eastern Balasore Orissa. This beach has the unique quality of the sea receding as much as 5 km with the tide. Chandipur also known as “The land of Hidden Treasure”, the beach supports a varied range of biodiversity. Enchanting melody of sea and solitary tunes of the endlessly spreaded sand dunes which attract many traveller visits to chandipur.

Talasari Beach – Talasari is located in Balasore district of Orissa, best approached from Digha in West Bengal, this is a serene beach and offers good bathing opportunities. Orissa tourism’s panthashala here offers basic accommodation. Calm and peaceful water, tropical weather, sunrise and sunset of the place is simply enchanting.

Pati-Sonapur Beach – located 35 km from Gopalpur-on-Sea; it is on the confluence of river Bahuda with the Bay of Bengal. The sun, the sea, colorful waters, loneliness, the sands and enchanting beauty of this virgin beach is purely delightful.
